My Life as I See It

OMG... as I sit hear Thursday evening to type up this post for Friday, it has been THE LONGEST day of my life!   Seems like it anyways... Working long hours at work because we're off Friday and of course when you're excited about having a long weekend and holiday, the last day at work seems to take forever to end!  But 5:00 finally came and the weekend has started!  Misty and I have been looking forward to this July 4th weekend for a long time!

Friday I'll be on the golf course and Misty's going to go do her favorite past time which is swimming!  I'm sure our next home will have a pool hahaha... IF this one doesn't have one first!  THEN... Saturday morning we are headed to the mountains with friends for a long awaited weekend in a cabin and a visit to one of our favorite winery's Chateau Morrisette... Then we're off to the Floyd Fandango Beer and Wine Fest!  WAAAAHHOOOOOO!!  hahaha

It should make for a fantastic July 4th weekend with my sweetheart and our friends!

Leftwich Aerial Photography

A couple of days ago I was going through some old pics and came across my collection of aerial photography pics.  Several years ago, I got into the hobby of remote control airplanes.  Not long after I was in the hobby, I began reading on the internet about how some people were using their rc planes to do aerial photos.  I thought it was so interesting and just had to try it!

Before long I had a full fledged business called Leftwich Aerial Photography.  It was the coolest thing to be able to send up a remote control airplane with a digital camera attached and take snap shots and/or videos.  I did some homes and business shoots along with some churches.  But... the more I got into it, the more it became a job and not a hobby so I got burnt out and ended up selling everything except my radio.  I do miss the hobby though and always enjoyed flying in the back yard and at the local RC field.

The plane I used most of the time for aerial photography was a and I had a custom made camera mount that held a Nikon 3700 digital camera on the bottom of the plane.  A servo, which is used to control the movement of the plane (rudder, elevator, ailerons), can be mounted on the camera and a switch on the radio can be used to move the servo to trigger the shutter on the camera.  It's really cool and there's all kinds of little gadgets you can use depending on what kind of setup you have.  I even had a video feed transmitting to a digital screen on the ground so I could see what the plane was seeing!  It was a pretty sweet setup!

Maybe someday I will get another plane... I don't think I'll get into aerial photography again, but I would like to fly again!

Anyways...  Like I said, I was browsing through some old pics and videos and thought I would share a few of the pics and a video for this Friday's Video.  I've actually shown the video here at the blog before, but since I have quite a few new readers, I thought I'd share it again!

This past weekend I was going over how I do my backups again and I wanted to stress again just how important backups are folks...  The more I look at the online options, the more impressed I am!

Even Hollywood Realizes The Importance of Data Loss!

In one episode of the famous TV show “Sex and the City,”  Sarah Jessica Parker lost all the data in her laptop due to hard disk crash.  When she had it repaired, the tech told her that the data could not be retrieved and he asked her if she has a backup.  Sarah Jessica Parker sadly replied that she does not have a backup.  That scenario is a perfect example and it shows the importance of backing up your data.  We all know that there are many ways to backup your data and choosing the right option will produce the best results and provide you the best continuous data protection.

Online Backups Can Give You Peace of Mind

The two most popular ways of backing up your data is either to schedule a daily backup or backup a new file version every time you save a file.  The first option is called a scheduled daily backup while the second option is called continuous data protection.

Continuous data protection is the much better choice of the two options.  It ensures that every added file by a user is saved regardless of the time it is saved.  Whether it is saved every minute or every hour, your newly added data is secured unlike the scheduled daily backup.  With a scheduled daily backup, you face the risk of losing new data that you acquired during the day because the backup is only scheduled at a certain time everyday.  This is also a huge disadvantage for a business that is active on the Internet because they face the risk of violating retention laws due to possible loss of data.   Using a service that will provide online backups will take the headache and worry out of losing your data!   This will ensure the safety of your data whether it be online or offline and whether it is added every minute or every hour.

Folks, almost every month I have at least one computer OR MORE that I work on and end up having to reformat because of a virus or a hard drive failure.  Nine times out of ten there was NO backup!

It's finally Friday!  Didn't think it would ever get here and I'm ready for some time with my sweetheart!  Seems like we've not had much time together this past week and I miss my sweetie Misty!  So tonight we're going out on the town and gonna do something together!!!

I played golf again Thursday evening and did ok at the "real" golf course where I won the 9 holes we played.  We ended up going to the Par 3 where I got my ass handed to me by my buddy DJ haha... he deserved it... he played very well!  Oh well, we'll see how things go this Sunday when we play in a little bunny hop!

Michael Jackson

Soooo, unless you've been on another planet, then you know that Michael Jackson passed away Thursday.  I was actually on the golf course when my daughter called asking me if I'd heard about it... I figured it was BS but turned out to be true.

I'm not gonna do a big long post about Michael Jackson but I will say this... Love him or hate him, the guy changed music and was smooth as hell on the dance floor.  I can remember in high school, we all piled in a class room to watch Thriller when it came out...  Michael Jackson WAS music in those days!

Like I said, love him or hate him, you just about have to look at his life and all he did and how it affected so many people and respect him as an entertainer.  I realize he had quite a bit of controversy in his life as well, and who knows but him and his maker about all that crap and whether it was true or not?  I don't know and I really don't care...

Anyways...  I'm not like devastated or anything haha, but it is kinda surreal because he was so popular when I was growing up and you can't help but look back and remember all the songs and the dances he created!

One thing I try not to do is to check my stats every day.  If you do any kind of Internet Marketing then you know exactely what I mean.  This post isn't one of those "don't spend time checking your stats every day" posts, because I'm just the opposite hahaha...  It's not like I spend a huge amount of time checking my stats, but at least once a day, or every couple of days, I'll log into my cpanel and see what kind of traffic I'm getting and how many visits etc etc...

Along with that, I always check my earnings over at the Ebay Partner Network.  Usually things are  updated after lunch and I can get on there and see how much I've made since I checked last.

One cool thing about the Ebay Partner Network, or EPN, is that they have a transaction download report which will show me exactly what folks are buying through my niche stores and/or affiliate links.

One thing that many people do not realize about how the Ebay Partner Network works, is that you can get commision from ANY purchase a person makes as long as they go through one of your sites or links.  For instance, let's say I have a niche store which sells fish tanks.  Now let's say a shopper finds my site via the search engines or an ad I've placed somewhere, or maybe even Twitter or Facebook.  After they find my site about fish tanks, they click on an Ebay auction for a tank or a filter or whatever...

Now lets say that person decides to start shopping for golf clubs or boats or underwear or just whatever.  As long as the cookie from the Ebay item they clicked on at MY site is still active on their computer and it's within 7 days of that click, Jake gets commission on WHATEVER they buy!  SWEET!

Of course it's always nice to see people make purchases that are along the lines of the site they went through...  meaning if your niche site is about fish tanks, it's cool to see folks buying fish tanks and supplies etc etc...

BUT, it's also cool to see someone click on a lower cost item on one of my niche stores and then go purchase a $4,500.00 item that's not even related to my site!  HELL YEAH!  That's exactly what happened to me last week and it's happened a few times before!  That makes for a sweet commission when someone makes a purchase of that value!

Now lets say you have more than just the fish tank site, let's say you have maybe 10 niche sites where the same thing happens!  Maybe your niche site already sells higher priced items and people make those $4,500.00 purchase all day every day!

Why am I saying all of this? 

Because I know many of you that read this blog have blogs or sites that you use to sell Internet Marketing tools, E-books and that sort of thing. 

I also know that many of you WANT to get into Internet Marketing and start making extra money or a full time income using the Internet.

My two questions to you are....

OMG is it finally Friday?  I didn't think this day would eva get here!  It's been a long week for some reason but Friday is finally here!  I'm ready for it and ready for a nice weekend!

Last night I got my latest tattoo.. I've been wanting it for a while and had been going back and forth in my mind about who I wanted to do it.  This was my 6th tattoo and I am VERY pleased with the work that Andy at Gypsy Moon did for me!  She's a great artist and she has a great personality!  If any of you local folks are looking for place to get a tattoo, I highly recommend Andy over at the Gypsy Moon!

As you can see in the picture, the idea I had drawn up was of "Giving Hands".  I've always felt as though I've had two Angels in my life, one was my Granny who passed away several years ago.  She was a very precious woman and very dear to me.  I've never known anyone with a heart like my Granny had.  She lived to be 91 years old and I always try to look back at her life and how she treated others and how she just "loved everybody".  I wish everyone could have met my Granny!

The 2nd Angel in my life is without a doubt the person that changed my life and made everything right.  We go together like 2 peas in a pod haha.. Misty is definitely heaven sent and I can't imagine my life without her.  Just like my Granny, Misty has a heart of gold and is so loving and kind.  I know my granny and Misty are both gifts from above, hence the "giving hands" that gave Misty and my granny to me.

Last night when I got the tattoo, as I was sitting there in pain (yes it hurt like hell) haha... I reflected on my past and how I've always looked up to my granny and just thought about old times.  I also thought about my new life with Misty and how I look so forward to our life together.

Of course this pic is fresh and the tattoo will look even better when it heals up... but I love it and am very proud of it!  Thanks Andy for doing a GREAT job!

So how was everyone's weekend?  Ours was GREAT!  Friday night we went with friends to a nice little place in Elkin, NC called Basin Creek Country Store.  It's a cool little place that has a small menu, great beer and a jukebox!  If you go, GET THE WINGS!

Saturday night Misty and I had a little date and ate at one of our favorite Mexican Restaurants and then went to the movies to see "Hangover"!  I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in a long time!  I highly recommend it!  It's hilarious!

Today, Sunday, me and my buddy DJ went to play golf!  I played pretty good and won again today hahah.. DJ hates losing as much as I do!  Usually we make a bet and today's bet was the loser had to wear my blue duke wig on the 1st hole the next time we play.  Sooo, DJ is gonna be sporting that wig next time we play and I'm gonna be sure to take a picture of it!

What a busy week!  I'm glad it's Friday!  The vinyl siding is finally done on the house along with new gutters.  It made a huge improvement on the house and now we can move on to some other projects!  I'm glad that's over and done with!

Along with that, I finally got my new tattoo drawn up so I'm excited about getting that done next week!

Also, my golf game is coming around and I've won the last 3 games against my buddies!  GO ME! haha   I HATE losing.. I get very competitive and I'm glad I'm finally on track.. not that my golf game is perfect or even great.. but as long as I'm winning, I'm cool with that!

I also had intended on mentioning Misty's accomplishment this past week but never did.  In an earlier post, Why is it So Easy to Lose Weight, I talked about how Misty was following the Weight Watchers® program and how easy it is to lose weight by sticking to it!  Weight Watchers® really teaches you how to eat and I am sooo proud of Misty and myself!  I'm still maintaining and something I didn't mention in that earlier post, is that Misty was in a contest with others at her school.  All the teachers were doing a biggest loser contest and well... guess who won??  Misty did!!  She lost a total of 44 pounds and I am so proud of her!

Now let's move on to this Friday's Video!

In my post, Another Concert - Another Memory, Misty left a comment that mentioned that we danced at the concert to Brad Paisley's song "She's Everything".  I didn't mention it in that post because I had planned on it being this Friday's Video.

I've heard that song many times, but I've never really "heard" that song until that night...  If you have someone that is YOUR EVERYTHING, then you know what I'm talking about!  It was one of those special moments that I will never forget!

Misty is definitely my EVERYTHING and to say she has changed my life is a huge understatement! She's amazing, wonderful and beautiful inside and out. She's my best friend, my soul mate and my lover. She IS my EVERYTHING!

I thought it only fitting to play that video this week and I hope you enjoy it!  You all had better enjoy these country songs because next week I'm getting back to my roots hahah  HIP HOP!

I'm finally getting around to doing a blog post on our "Special Time" we had last Friday night, June 5th.  That was the night we went to Charlotte, NC to see Jimmy Wayne, Dierks Bentley and Brad Paisley.

The night started off kinda shaky but things finally settled down and we had a blast as always!  What was shaky about it?  Well for one thing, those of you that live in big cities and have to deal with fricken traffic every day, HOW DO YOU DO IT?  Misty's sister's boyfriend drove that night and I'm glad he did because it rained most of the way to Charlotte and traffic was ridiculous as usual.  Traffic is always bad in Charlotte, but toss in a concert or any other event and it's double ridiculous!

Anyway... we arrived safe and sound and ohhh yeah... I was very proud of myself!  No water, beer, soda or anything before we left or on the ride down to Charlotte!  Why not?  I learned a very valuable lesson the last time we got stuck in traffic and I had drank a couple of beers before we left (no i wasn't driving) and I thought I would piss my pants before we got to the parking lot.  NEVER AGAIN hahah  lesson learned!  My poor kidneys just can't hold it!  (Michele, did you learn YOUR lesson? haha) [Read the rest of this entry...]
