My Life as I See It

One thing i love to do is find great deals using the Internet.  Anytime i get ready to buy something, whether it’s a laptop, car stereo equipment, camera’s, Christmas presents of all kinds, you name it!  I’m always researching, finding the best product and the best price!

Since i love doing the research, and since many of my friends and family know i love to do it, i get quite a few requests from people to help them find the best price on the item they are looking for!  Not only are people looking for the best price, they are looking for piece of mind when they buy online.  People want to make sure they are purchasing from a secure website.  This is probably the number one comment i get when i talk to people about buying online, people will tell me they are afraid to put their information “out there”!

Having said all that, i would love to help YOU find what you are looking for!  With the Christmas season upon us, this is the time to buy, and it’s the best time to buy online!  I’ve mentioned before that i do almost all of my Christmas shopping online every year.  People always comment to me how they HATE going in the stores this time of year and i tell them i enjoy it!  When they ask me why i say well…  i’ve already made my purchases online and i’ve found the best deals, now i can come to the store and “people watch”!  I get a kick out of going to the stores and watching people scramble and fuss and argue and i sit back and smile and just mosey around the store enjoying myself!  HA!

Someone here at work was asking me about Metal Detecors!  I was showing him the Gold items I have at Jakes’s Favorite Ebay Products and how I’ve read stories about finding so many great items from Gold Coins to watches, old toys and about everything else you can imagine!  It’s a great hobby and can make you some great $$!

If you know anything about me, then you know i’m a HUGE Duke Basketball fan!  And HUGE may be an understatement!  If you keep up with NCAA basketball at all, then you know how serious us folks here in ACC country take our basketball!  When it comes to Duke, usually you either love ‘em or hate ‘em.  Kinda like the terd hills, i mean tar heels… love ‘em or HATE ‘em!  The season is just now under way and already Duke has shown they have some work to do, but the excitement in this past Sunday’s game against Rhode Island in the Coaches vs Cancer tournament, has let me know it’s going to be an exciting year for college basketball fans!

How did i become a Duke Basketball fan?

I’ll have to admit that in junior high and the first 3 years of high school i wasn’t into basketball all that much.  I paid attention to it but never really was a huge fan of anybody.  That soon changed!  I went to middle school and high school with a guy named Kevin Strickland.  Kevin definitely had skills when it came to b ball.  I can remember in middle school playing against Kevin in the gym and getting abused haha.  I did score occasionally but he definitely had some leaps and skills that i couldn’t compete with, or anybody else in our school or surrounding area for that matter.  In high school Duke started recruiting Kevin and while doing so they would come to our school, North Surry, and play blue/gray games.  That’s all it took, seeing those guys and the excitement they brought and the talent they had, i was hooked on Duke Basketball.  So i’ve been a Duke fan for better than 25 years!  I haven’t talked to Kevin in years and years, maybe he’ll google his name and come across my site sometime and see i’ve blogged about him haha!

I can’t imagine why even terd hill fans won’t accept the fact that Cameron Indoor Stadium is THE place to be when it comes to college basketball.  Other schools have tried to imitate, but nobody can come close to that atmosphere and no school can compare to the Cameron Crazies and what they bring as fans and students to that place.  Want an example of what the Cameron Crazies are all about?  READ THIS! Even if you’re not a basketball fan, or even if you’re not a Duke fan, if you ever have the opportunity to go to Cameron Indoor Stadium and watch Duke play and NOT get chill bumps, then something is wrong with you or you’re a terd hill!  I’ve been fortunate enough to go several times and it’s an experience like no other!  I hope i can go again soon! Well it’s been a great week!  Even though it’s been kinda rainy and messy here in the foothills, we needed it so it’s all good!  I hope everyone has had a wonderful week and is ready for the weekend!  I know we are!  Dunno what me and Misty will get into this weekend but i’m sure it’ll be fun!

What’s that popular saying… “If It’s Free, It’s For Me”!  Has a nice ring to it huh?

Everybody loves free stuff, at least i think everybody does…  if you don’t, please leave a comment and tell us why you don’t like free stuff! haha!  The power of the Internet is an amazing thing and there’s so much information available to us right at our fingertips!  We can use the Internet to find just about any piece of information we’re looking for!  We can do research for school projects or work, we can find an answer to about any question we have on our mind.  We can learn about new technology and get news instantly.  The Internet is a powerful tool and it can be used in so many different ways that it can boggle the mind!

So if the Internet has such power, and if we can find just about anything we’re looking for using the power of Google, then why the heck not use it to find FREE stuff??????  Yes FREE!  You would be amazed at how much free stuff there is out there for all of us to take advantage of.  Sometimes i forget about it myself!  How does it work?  It’s very simple…  use the Google search box below and search for anything your heart desires!  Seriously, you will be amazed at what you’ll come across that you can get FOR FREE!  There will be some odd stuff you’ll see and there will be some results from your searches that won’t pertain to what you’re looking for, but i guarantee you’ll find something related if you search for it!  So be sure to scroll through all the results you get when you do your searches!

Get Free Stuff By Searching Google

Just off the top of my head, here are some things that come to mind that you can search for.  Some of these i have searched and found free items available, some i just thought would be good to search for.  Remember, you can search for ANYTHING and you never know what you may come across that’s FREE!

• “free candy samples”
• “free business cards”
• “free diapers”
• “free printer ink”
• “free samples”
• “free drinks”
• “free coupons”

Basically you can take the word FREE and use to find anything that comes to mind!

Tip:  Always use quotes when you do your search, you’ll get better results for this type of search.  For example, if you are searching for free cars, type it in the search box with quotes  “free cars”  not just  free cars.  This way you will get an exact phrase search result for what you are looking for!  Oh, and if you find something interesting, PLEASE share it in a comment so others can take advantage!

What up people…  well if you haven’t noticed i’ve been kinda slack on the posts here in the past week or so.  What’s been going on?  Well, work has been ridiculous for one…  don’t get me wrong, i love busy days!  It makes the day go by and i’d much rather have it piled up than to be looking for something to do, which never happens around here.  But lately it’s been NUTS!  So during my breaks and lunch i’ve just been chillin!  Plus over the past few weeks i had put quite a bit of time into my other websites and i think with work being so busy and all the other work on the websites, i just needed a break from it all!  Ever get that way?

There’s definitely things i need to be doing on my websites and at home so i can’t be slacking too much longer!  Also, i’ve been having some JEFF time lately too.  It’s important to take time out for ourselves now and then or we will get burnt out!  Right?  Right!

Halloween was my burfday and one of the things Misty got me was Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2009 for the Xbox 360!  LOVE IT!  If any of you reading out there have this game and ever want to play online, just leave a comment or email me and we’ll hook up!  So i’ve been spending some evenings playing around with that and just having some ME time away from the computer!  Also, Misty got me a new cell phone for my b’day!  My first Blackberry Curve!  Dang, for somebody that loves technology and tries to stay up on everything, after getting this phone, i feel old and behind haha!  It’s basically a small computer and has so many features that i’ve spent quite a few hours trying to set it up, work out the bugs and learn everything.  But it is way cool!

Ohhhhh, and for the past 2 nights, there have been some very important events on TV that i HAD to watch!  That was DUKE BASKETBALL!  It has begun and my love for Duke B’ball will get it’s own post soon!

Sooo, hopefully in the next bit i can get back on track and throw up some interesting posts for you all to read.  I’ve got quite a few thoughts to put out there and some other things i need/want to share if i can ever get to it!  I can’t believe the holidays are here!  Crazy huh?  Better get that shopping started!

That’s the question that i am asking myself here lately…  The short answer is..  I am Jeff and i feel like in the past couple of years i have changed.  i’m writing this because when i write, it makes me think.  Maybe seeing something written out or thinking about what i’m writing helps me understand things?  Dunno…

I’ve said many times and many posts that life seems to have started for me at 40.  Just a few short years ago everything changed for me.  Usually when i talk about how i’ve changed or how things have changed in my life, i talk about my love life, Misty, and how my view on love etc etc has changed so much.  But there’s more that has seemed to have changed in me over the past few years…  is it age?  Is it my situation?  Hmmmmmm…

My views have changed so much on so many different things…  Ok, well maybe they haven’t changed, maybe i’ve always had “views” but never expressed them??  Maybe my situation always determined how, when, why i spoke my mind.  As i’m typing this, i’m searching for a word that could best describe me at this point in my life.

For some reason, the first word i looked up in the dictionary was Cynical.  Maybe i thought cynical meant something else…  according to the dictionary cynical means:

: having or showing the attitude or temper of a cynic: as a: contemptuously distrustful of human nature and motives <those cynical men who say that democracy cannot be honest and efficient — F. D. Roosevelt> b: based on or reflecting a belief that human conduct is motivated primarily by self-interest

Dunno why i thought i might be cynical.. although that last part of the definition DOES perk my ears up a little bit…  a belief that human conduct is motivated by self-interest  Hmmmm…  that’s something to think about.

So is cynical a good definition of who i am or how i feel these days?  I think i’m the type of person that questions almost EVERYTHING!  I’m sure there’s a word to describe that, but i just can’t find it.. maybe some of you reading this can point me to it!  HA!  I don’t think “confused” would describe me, since i know what i believe…  but even having said that, can a person KNOW what they believe and yet have so many questions?  What are these questions i’m talking about?  Just about anything that is presented to me, verbally, where there could be an alternative meaning or reason, i question it!  Does that make sense? Well this week seems to have went fast for me, but it’s been a great week!  Work has been busy as ever so that makes the days and the week go fast!

Most every morning, i channel surf before i go off to work and i almost always try and catch a preacher or two, along with the news, cartoons or whatever else i can find that will make me think!  It’s very interesting to me how different TV preachers are now, compared to years ago, and not only that, just how different they are compared to each other in today’s time.  Btw, i have a very long blog post upcoming about religion, if i can ever get my thoughts together on it!

Well another birthday has come and gone.  Since Misty and i have been dating, she has always went above and beyond when it comes to my birthday, and this year was no different!  Even though Friday was my birthday, the celebration lasted all weekend!

Friday morning Misty went and got us breakfast… YUMMY!  Then of course we both had to work all day.  Friday afternoon we sat out on the front porch and carved a pumpkin together.  I had never in my 43 years carved a pumpkin so it was fun to experience that with my sweetheart.  Of course she did most of the work since i can’t cut too straight and she loves digging all that mush out! HA!  But it was very sweet!  That morning she had left me a little clue in my truck letting me know what our plans would be for Friday night, and we had a ball!  Some of our friends had come to the house to meet up with us and we all went to Winston-Salem to do a beer tasting at Foothills Brewing.  Now Misty and i have went to quite a few wine festivals and have done quite a few wine tastings, but i never knew there were beer tastings!  It was a great atmosphere, quite a few folks were dressed for Halloween and it’s a very cool place to visit.  Wings, pizza and the beer sampler made for a lot of laughs and a fun night!  I will throw this in there, if you do go and do the tasting, DO NOT try the “Rainbow Trout ESB”!  ANY beer with TROUT in the name can’t be good!  And it’s NOT hahaha!  ESB stands for “extra special bitter” and they ARE NOT kidding!  If you ever have a chance, check it out!  Downtown Winston-Salem sure has changed from what it use to be!
