Do What You Love To Do and Make Money Doing It

11 September 2008 One Comment

Hello all, hope everyone is having a great week!

Occasionally I have written in some posts about how I use the internet to make money. In this post I would like to give a little background on how it all started, and get into what exactly I'm talking about.

If you have been reading my blog, you have also noticed a reference to Misty, my fiance. To put it plane and simple, Misty would not be my fiance without Internet Marketing. WHAT? Let me explain a little further...

After being married for 19 years and going through a divorce, I was wiped out financially. It took every dime to get through it, and then some! I could live week to week, month to month and that was fine, at least I was making it. Without going into the entire story of Misty and I on this post, the time came and I was ready to propose to her. I started shopping around for the perfect ring and I remember feeling so deflated and disheartened. What I wanted to buy and what Misty deserved was just unrealistic and I just couldn't figure out how I was going to make the purchase of the diamond ring I wanted for her.

Browsing around the internet one day, I came across the book I've talked about a few times on this blog, Farrah Gray's book called Get Real - Get Rich: Conquer The 7 Lies Blocking You From Success. You can buy this book through the link at this post. Awesome Book! I thought to myself, you know, I'm gonna buy this book, what the heck. WOW, now I'm not much of a book reader but I got so excited reading this book. It helped me focus on what I'm good at and use what I'm good at to be successful. And just a note, success is measured in so many different ways folks. Once again, if you can buy the book, buy it!

Without going into a lot of detail from the book, everything started to "click" and the more I read, the more I thought, the more I got excited. Ask Misty how pumped I would get! As I said, it helped me to see what talents I had, and how I could take those talents and apply them in different ways, ways I had never thought of.

Remember, all of this started from the need of another source of income, just enough to make some extra money to buy that special ring. It has since turned into more than I ever thought and I couldn't be more excited!

What did I do next? After reading more from Farrah Gray's book and realizing which direction I was going to take, I sat down at my computer one day and typed "how to make money using the internet". If you know me, you know I LOVE computers and I use the internet in about every aspect of my life. I KNEW that if I could find the right tools, I could use what talent I had to make some extra money. I FOUND THE RIGHT TOOLS!

You may be reading this and be saying to yourself, "well I don't know much about computers" or "this sounds too good to be true" or you may say "I don't have any talents". Trust me folks, EVERY ONE of you has talent. It may not be computers or electronics. You may have a talent that you don't even know you have! That's where Farah Gray's book helped me so much!

So what tools did I find? Mainly BANS or Build A Niche Store. BANS is a software script and the opportunities it gives you are endless! Just to give you the basics, you can sign up for the Ebay Partner Network (EPN) and if accepted, you will be an Ebay affiliate. You can also sign up at the Pepperjam Network. An affiliate is a person that sends traffic to the merchant you are an affiliate for, and the merchant pays you a percentage of sales in different ways.

Also, WordPress, which is free, is the best blogging software you will find! This blog uses WordPress. WordPress can be used alone, or integrated with BANS.

Example: I am an Ebay affiliate. I use the BANS software to build websites and the software allows me to pull Ebay auctions directly from Ebay to my website. When someone visits my site and clicks on an item that takes them to Ebay, a cookie is put on that persons computer. That cookie stays active for 7 days, unless the cookie is over written or that person cleans out the cookies on their computer. If within that 7 days someone makes a purchase while the cookie from my website is still active, I get commission from the item they purchased. COOL HUH? Now the percentages isn't from the actual cost of the item. I get 1/2 of the fees that were paid when the actual person listed the item on Ebay. You can also make money from people signing up for Ebay when they go through your site. That amount could be between $1 and $50 depending on how well your site does in Ebay's eyes.

There are so many other tools available folks. For instance on the same site that you have Ebay's products, you can use ads from different places and make money from sales for PPC (pay per click). Let's say I have a site, and this site sells motorcycles from Ebay. I can put some ads on that site, on the side bars and different places. These ads come from Google's Adsense, Amazon and many other places. Then I get paid from those avenues as well. I could set up a blog on that site and talk about helmets, clothing, bike rally's, anything to do with motorcycles to draw interest to my site, and also sell those related items as well.

I know this may be a lot to chew on, but after you get into it, it's not that bad. And again, you ALL have a talent. Here are a couple of examples:

Let's say you're interested in videos, videoing weddings etc etc. You LOVE anything to do with videos. You could start a blog, like this one, offer advice on videos and how you make them, how you edit them, what you do to make money using your video camera. How you setup for weddings, the software you use to edit. Now take all that information and use a blog or forum to talk about it. If you wanted to use BANS, you could have a store section on that blog that pulls anything you decide from Ebay, video cameras, software for editing, anything related to making videos! Then put some ads on your site and start getting paid from Ebay and from the ads people click on. And the great thing about it, you are doing what you love and making money doing it!

Here's another example. Maybe you love to write. Start a blog like this one and if you have a passion for a certain subject, weight loss, skin problems, building bikes, ANYTHING... whatever your interest or passion is. Write about it and use it to promote items related to your passion. Writing about weight loss? How many weight loss products are there out there? And it is a HUGE industry! Maybe you could write an E-book. An E-book is basically an electronic book, you type it up, put it on your site and sell it as a download. Folks there are thousands of these that sell everyday for $100 bucks each. Get your sites together, advertise and start seeing the money come in!

Does this take work? Of course! But the work pays off! And there's nothing more satisfying that doing something you love and making money doing it!

I'll talk about more of this at a later time. If you have any questions PLEASE feel free to ask them or if you just want to comment, that's what this blog is for!

The links to BANS (Build a Niche Store) and all the other tools I've spoken about, and more, can be found on the $ Internet Marketing $ page of this blog. Check it out!

Oh and btw, the Engagement ring I bought using Internet Marketing is BEAUTIFUL!
