Our Weekend Getaway
Hello all, well after some rather long hard weeks of work, Misty and I took the weekend off! Well up until today at about 2:00. We've been playing catch up all afternoon!
Thursday was Misty's birthday, and part of her present was a weekend getaway to the mountains! It was so nice to get away from the grind for a while. If you've been reading my posts, then you know it's been kinda ridiculous here lately and we both needed a break, Misty more so than me!
Anyway, we headed out Friday about 3:15 and visited Bedford, Va. We stayed at a cozy little place called the Otter's Den Bed & Breakfast. It's a nice little place and the bed AND the breakfast was great! HA! Very nice hostess and we loved the atmosphere of the cabin and the grounds. Lot's of scenery and trails and such.
Bedford, VA has 5 winery's. We managed to visit 4 of the 5 Saturday. Lot's of driving around but the GPS helped out big time! I'll be doing a review of the Garmin GPS pretty soon. If you don't have a GPS, you'll wanna stay tuned!
Our favorite winery out of the 4 was the Peaks of Otter Winery. They specialize in fruit wines and they have some very unique flavors. YUMMY! The Leo Grande Winery was also very nice and after we did the wine tasting, we sat out on a bench under a big oak tree. There was a beautiful view of the vineyards and the mountains and a really nice breeze blowing. That's where this pic was taken.
Oh, and i don't think i've ever seen as many deer in my life. EVERYWHERE! And when you would come up on them, they hardly ever got spooked. They would just stand there and look at you. The cabin we stayed in had a little grassy area by the driveway and every night we came home, there were 4 or 5 deer bedded down in that little area. They would raise up and look at us, probably 10 feet away, and just put there heads back down. Even on the side of the road, you could stop next to them and they would look for a minute, then go back to eating.
It was a very nice weekend but it's always nice to be home. We missed the grandson, AND his parents ha! We also missed our boxer Bentley! I guess it's back to the grind now. I've been catching up on emails and checking out all of my websites to see how they did over the weekend and just trying to get back in the groove.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend! Share your thoughts about YOUR weekend! What did YOU do?
