Here in the foothills of NC, the weather has been absolutely GORGEOUS!   The leaves are almost at their peak and today we took advantage of the beautiful weather and turning leaves.

Today was made up of many different things and all those things played a part in a wonderful day spent on the Blue Ridge Parkway with my best friend and Fiance Misty.  With temps in the 60's and beautiful sunshine, we packed the picnic basket and headed off to the mountains for a very relaxing day.  Our picnic basket was simple but deeee licious!  Three different kinds of cheese, crackers, chocolate and a bottle of Red Mountain Laurel Wine from Chateau Morrisette.  That a long with some chairs, a blanket and a nice breeze, we stopped at our "special" little getaway which is a nice large meadow just off the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Misty even got a surprise foot massage and I think we both could have slept the night away there on that blanket. Maybe it was the Wine?

Before heading home, we drove out the road a bit to Mabry Mill and walked around a few minutes.  It was nice to see the old timers playing and flat footin, kinda takes you back to simpler times!

I love the fall weather, but experiencing all the wonderful things that come with fall with my best friend and soul mate Misty, sure makes the experience much more wonderful.  We both talked about how soon the holidays will be here.  It's crazy to even think about how Halloween is almost here and before we know it Thanksgiving and Christmas will come and go.
