Where Do You Get Content For Your Blog?

3 February 2009 14 Comments

Yo, before I get started with this post.. just a reminder to those who haven't entered for the FREE IPOD, you can do that by going to THIS POST! Go do it! HA!

If you have a blog or a niche store, then one thing is a MUST.... CONTENT! Content is what the search engines "see" that brings visitors to your site.  Without good content, you are probably wasting your time!

So Where Do I Find Good Content?

That's probably one of the most talked about question these days.  Finding good content is a must, but not always easy.  Here at JakeCpuNut.com, I have a variety of categories and talk about anything and everything.  Sometimes that makes it a little easier to find content.  On the other hand, I have several niche websites where things are sold that I know little or nothing about.  That's when it becomes a struggle to find good content to write about, content that the search engines will pick up on.  Not only that, content that your readers will enjoy!

Even here at JakeCpuNut.com, I can still use some ideas from time to time for different things. The struggle for finding new content just got a heck of a lot easier!

Looking For Content?  Here's Your Answer!  WP answers!

I came across a GREAT plugin that to me is nothing short of a LIFE SAVER when it comes to finding content for some of my niche sites.  As I said, some of those sites are selling things that I know little about, so I want to be able to find things to write about.  WP answers does the hard work for me!  I absolutely LOVE this Word Press plugin.  Neil Harvey has done a wonderful job creating this plugin and it has already saved me countless hours of searching and typing!  Neil also gives great support and you WILL NOT be disappointed!

How Does WP answers Work?

Have you ever heard of Yahoo Answers?  Yahoo Answers is a great place to find answers to just about anything you can think of... that makes it a GREAT place to find content!  Thousands upon thousands of people have already asked a question and there are answers to those questions!  That is content just sitting there waiting for YOU!

The WP answers plugin retrieves content from Yahoo Answers in the form of question & answers and automatically makes posts out of them!  How sweet is that?  Here are the simple steps for using the WP answers plugin.

Here's some info directly from Neil....

  1. Enter the keyword or phrase to search Yahoo answers.
  2. Enter how often you want to post a question & answer.
  3. Select one of your blog categories.
  4. Select the post author.
  5. Select if you want to publish, pending review, daft or private.

The other cool part to this plugin, you can humanize the posts, for example if you setup a keyword to post every 3 days, the humanize feature can post at random times, so it looks like a real person is updating your blog!

Simple enough?  Seriously folks.... this is a great tool and it WORKS!

There are 3 different versions you can purchase depending on how many keywords you want to use.  I chose the light version but I will definitely be upgrading to be able to use more keywords as my sites grow!

This is by far some of the best money I have spent!  It saves me time, giving me more time to focus on other projects.  It's easy and simple to setup and use!

Check it out!  Get your WP answers plugin and get easy content!

@ Ben – What’s up Ben! GREAT question.. Answer.. NO! and the reason why.. I take it and change it up man.. I know you may say, why bother if you’re gonna rewrite it.. but it is still a live saver for giving me new ideas and the post is already there.

I can change up the question or make my own out of it, and switch up the comment some and BAM! I really am loving this plugin!

Another thought.. i’ve been reading all over the major blogs and some say duplicate content ain’t as bad as all that.. I’m still wondering about that very thing! Maybe others will chime in!

Either way.. for no more than this plug in cost and to be able to use it on unlimited sites.. this has been a huge life saver for me and some of my blogs!

    Hey J
This plugin seems cool but what’s the content look like? It seems like you’d have to practically rewrite it to make it blog worthy.

    @ T – Yo man.. u wanna buy a DVD? haha

If you go to Yahoo Answers and type in the keyword you are wanting to use, and see what Yahoo shows..

That is EXACTLY what it puts in the post.. it puts the question title as the post title and the question as the blog post. Then it takes the most relevant answer and inserts it as a reply.

For instance on one of my niche stores i set it up to check every couple of days (you have several options) for related questions/answers to the keyword i entered, and i have it save them as drafts. Then all i have to do is log in, check my drafts and BAM, i have all kinds of ideas where people have asked questions about that product that i never thought of.

You can definitely go to Yahoo Answers and do the searching yourself.. BUT, as i’ve said, for less than 25 bucks and to be able to use it on unlimited sites.. it’s well worth it to me.. i’m loving it!

The post are already there waiting for me, all i do is do a little editing and i’m done!

    Great question!

[...] BUT, if I’m doing a blog post here, or one of the other blogs, and have to do any amount of research, then it can get really frustrating for me… or at least it use to!  When I would reasearch a topic for a blog post or article, I may have as many as 4 or 5 web pages open, trying to find content.  I’ll also use websites like Google’s Adwords as well as the free keyword tracker from Wordtracker.  Sometimes I’ll find an article and it will be something that I want to use, so I rewrite that article so it will be unique content!
