Online Backup that Protects You Offline

15 May 2009 10 Comments

If you’re like me, you hate having to back up your computer data by hand. Sure, you always say you’re going to do it... but you always wind up forgetting.

There are a lot of fully-automated backup solutions out there for business, but what about laptop users?

One of the biggest misconceptions about online backup is that you need to be hooked up to the internet in order to use it. This was previously one of the main concerns that caused laptop users to avoid the technology during its infancy.

But times have changed a lot since then. Today, many online backup and recovery systems feature both local and remote backup capability.

For example, Storagepipe Solutions offers an online backup system that gives users the option of creating a special partition on their local hard drive. This partition allows the online backup software to save multiple “point-in-time” copies of your backed-up files in case you need to restore them when you’re offline.

This can be a real life-saver for business travellers.

If you make changes on the road, they get saved to this local partition. And as soon as you connect to the internet, the changes are instantly uploaded to your online storage.

If you’re a freelance professional, a sales person, or anyone else who spends a lot of time on the road, it’s easy to see how an automated backup solution like this can be a lot of help.

Online backup has finally matured, and it’s here to stay. Just make sure you pick a solution that protects you both online and off-line, and you should be fine.

@ Almir – Storagepipe offers a great solution to these type needs! And just like you said, their service takes the hassle out of having to keep up with when you backup, what you’ve backed up etc etc.

You’re most welcome on the banner! I hope it gives you a nice increase in traffic!

Woooooow this is one of a kind service there Jake, thanks for the heads up on this. Manually can take lots of time. There is even a seagate replica HDD (external) which does the backup for you.

If you have an external hard drive, or flash drive, or DVD’s.. Store your personal files, pictures, documents on there. That’s what i do, but i actually upload it to a file hoster.

@ Aluminum Fencing – Those are all great ways to back up your data! It never hurts to use multiple sources and I would definitely suggest doing that!
