Our Wedding – The Planning Stage!
Being married is a wonderful thing, or I guess I should say it CAN be a wonderful thing if the marriage is between the right two people! Misty and I have both been married before, and both to the wrong people!
June 21st of 2008, I proposed to Misty at Chateau Morrisette Winery. It was one of the most perfect days of my life and everything went great! I was so nervous and just wanted everything to be perfect... and it was! We didn't set a date right off, but we knew it was probably going to be sometime in 2010 when we got married! Heck I feel married already... I love my life with Misty and I really don't need a piece of paper that tells me she's my one and only! But, we are going to have a wedding, and if I know us, it will be a very special memory!
Decisions Decisions Decisions
For the past few months, we've been starting the inevitable... PLANNING THE WEDDING! You know, those things guys look at and say... "Just whatever you want sweetheart is fine with me"! One thing that makes it interesting though, is that we're pretty much handling EVERYTHING ourselves.. including the cost! Which means we're trying to find the best deals on every aspect of the wedding that we can! It's pretty crazy how things add up when you're planning a wedding... and man do they add up quick!
From where to have the wedding, to the food, music, pictures, honeymoon and everything in between, it can really be a challenge to find the best deals and put everything together. I know we're both up for the challenge though, and we've already got a pretty good idea on some of the major decisions!
I would say the two biggest decisions we'll have to make are:
- Where Will We Get Married?
- Where Will We Go On Our Honeymoon?
Of course those two decisions come with about a million other smaller decisions haha... But you gotta start some where right?
Choosing the Right Place for Our Wedding!
When Misty and I started talking about places to get married, we almost automatically wanted a wedding at a winery. Of course it wasn't a must, but we both love wine, we visit wineries all the time and it just seemed "right"! Chateau Morrisette, where we were engaged, was our first choice... but we soon realized it was WAY out of reach for our budget! We also checked on a some other very nice places, Bed & Breakfasts and another favorite winery Thistle Meadow. The Bed & Breakfast weddings were very nice, but again were just out of our budget range. Thistle Meadow had an excellent price, but we weren't too happy with how the reception was going to be handled.
Anyway, we finally decided on a place where we will tie the knot! I've already talked about it in a previous post which you can read called, "Our New Favorite Winery! Round Peak Vineyards!" We both fell in love with Round Peak Vineyards... we love the wine, the setting and the view!
We haven't "officially" set the date with Round Peak Vineyards or nailed down a price, but we're pretty sure of the date and have a general idea of the cost. I'll wait until it's set in stone before I post it though.
So there ya have it... I've been meaning to start posting on our upcoming wedding and I guess this is the official start of it. As things progress and as I have time, I'll blog about the different decisions we'll be making or have made and all that goes along with it.... Hopefully it'll be interesting readnig for some of you out there hahaha..
Stay Tuned..........
